biometric information in real time

A monitoring platform that is wireless, wearable and remote

Nuubo is about saving the lives of patients, while improving their quality of life.  To achieve this objective, Nuubo transmits key vital signals in a manner that is noninvasive to the patient.  This is made possible by a well structured platform involving the following key components:

  1. A textronic shirt captures a patient's vital signals.
  2. A sensor receives the data and sends it to the patient's cell phone, health wristband or router.
  3. The biometric information is sent to the Nuubo platform in real time.
  4. The patient's doctor is able to view real time data via the web, from wherever he or she might be.

All of this information is then stored so that a medical professional can have the ability to maintain surveillance over time and follow the patient.

The products that make it possible

Nuubo's monitoring platform is grouped into three lines of business:

  • Hardware: Includes the textronic undergarments that integrate electro-textile sensors that capture vital signals, the wireless nMotes (bioelectronics) that process and send biomedical signals, and the wireless access points (mobile, wrist-band or router) that capture the sent information and direct it to the software platform (gateway).
  • Software: Includes Nuubo’s remote monitoring platform and the end-user applications created for the different segments of the market.
  • Services: Includes activities such as the training, maintenance and consulting that are oriented to create value added around the remote monitoring platform.

The difference

What makes Nuubo distinct is the combination of its proprietary software platform, its intelligent combination of e-textiles, wireless networks and multi-hub middleware, and an application framework that uses a standardized and common architecture.

This allows for:

  • Rapid implementation: with the Nuubo Monitoring Suite platform, it is possible to develop and implement personalized solutions for vertical markets in a rapid and efficient manner.
  • Personalization: The high level of personalization permits Nuubo to offer a unique product for each client, adapting based on needs and complexity.
  • Innovation: A continual process of R&D, followed by a cycle of fabrication-integration-implementation that assures the innovation, quality and growth of the platform.

This new technology is based on standards - the Nuubo Monitoring Suite is designed with an advanced and innovative architecture and is well structured.

Certifications and standards

One of Nuubo’s main objectives is to ensure that all of its technologies are certified and meet industry standards. Such certifications and standards include the following:

  • CE Mark
  • Compliance with regulation UNE EN 60601-1-2 for electromedical equipment. General requirements for the basic safety and essential performance – Collateral standard: electromagnetic compatibility – requirements and test.1
  • ISO/IEEE 11073: Standard of interoperability for medical devices and their application in patient monitoring. This standard for the communication of medical devices has been taken on by the European Union as regulation ISO/IEEE 11073 (X73). The data can later be sent to a remote center for control or stored as electronic medical history (Historial Clínico Electrónico (HCE)), thus allowing for the construction of more complete systems that constitute global solutions.
  • Continua Health Alliance is a nonprofit open industry coalition of the best health care and technology companies, all which are united in order to improve individual health care. With more than 180 member companies globally, Continua is dedicated to establishing a system of interoperable solutions for personal health. This is with the objective of extending solutions into homes in order to promote independence, for the empowerment of individuals, and to provide truly personalized health and well being management. Nuubo is currently a member of the consortium.

Thanks to these certifications and standards, Nuubo intends to go to market with a socio-health platform that is interoperable within the ecosystem of health information systems. Nuubo has participated actively in the development activities of the Continua Health Alliance.
